Easterlies to bring rain showers over parts of Mindanao

MANILA – The easterlies affecting the eastern section of Mindanao will bring rain showers over parts of the island, the weather bureau said Thursday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the provinces of Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat and Zamboanga Sibugay.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

It added that the easterlies will also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Caraga and the rest of Davao Region. Severe thunderstorms could also result in flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA said the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

"Warm and humid weather will prevail (over the rest of the country) and isolated rain showers isolated rain showers will be experienced," forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

Temperature of up to 35 °C is forecast in Tuguegarao City and 34 °C in Metro Manila.

Temperature in the cities of Puerto Princesa, Laoag and Legazpi could reach up to 33 °C, while up to 32 °C temperature is forecast in Tacloban, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao and Zamboanga.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said. (PNA)
