MANILA – The new station of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) undergoing construction in San Simon, Pampanga will boost coastal security and disaster response in the province.

In a statement Wednesday, the PCG said the new station would be built on a 2,000 square-meter lot within the government center of San Simon town and would host at least 50 PCG personnel.

The personnel are seen to contribute to coastal security, and rescue operations, as well as promote peace and order in the region.

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the new station was held on June 5 and was led by Pampanga 4th District Rep. Anna York Bondoc and PCG Marine Environmental Protection Command Commander, Vice Admiral Roy Echeverria.

Bondoc was a proponent of the project and assisted by providing PHP8 million to fund the project’s infrastructure. (PNA)
