MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the weather bureau said Tuesday.
The LPA was last observed at 145 km. west-northwest of Butuan City in Agusan del Norte.
"It has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and could dissipate within the day," Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Rhea Torres said.
The LPA, however, will cause cloud clusters and rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA forecast scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Agusan del Norte due to the LPA.
Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods and landslides.
The rest of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will also continue to prevail across the archipelago, PAGASA said. (PNA)
