CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A 25-year-old female student from Bukidnon will again compete in an international mixed martial arts (MMA) competition in the Democratic Republic of the Congo on June 29.

In a statement on Wednesday, MMA athlete Mary Jane Buna said she was selected as one of two fighters to represent the Philippines in the IMPACT Championship 3.

"I have undergone extensive strength and conditioning training to ensure I am at my peak performance for the competition," Buna said.

An incoming second-year Development Communication student at the Bukidnon State University, Buna will compete head-to-head with Nigerian fighter Juliet Ukah.

She has been an MMA fighter since 2018, winning four straight and losing three fights. Her last bout was in 2022.

She has already fought in Taiwan and Australia.

"Representing the Philippines in international MMA competitions is always an honor. Train like a beast, fight like a warrior, and win with honor," she said. (PNA)
