CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – At least 187,891 farmers who are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the Northern Mindanao Region have benefited from the Department of Agrarian Reform's (DAR) Land Tenure Security Program (LTSP).

During Tuesday's “Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas” media forum, DAR-10 Director Zoraida Macadindang said the figures, from 2022 to May 2024, showed the agency's progress in implementing agricultural land reforms under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directives.

The LTSP involves the redistribution of government and private agricultural lands to landless farmers and farmworkers. It secures farmers' tenure, promotes social equity and provides them with necessary productive resources needed to ensure their economic viability and productivity.

In addition to LTSP, Macadindang said the Development and Sustainability Program provides support services to improve the lives of ARBs.

"We have also provided significant farm machinery and equipment throughout Northern Mindanao," Macadindang said.

To date, she said there are 21 ongoing infrastructure projects in the region -- 17 in Bukidnon with a combined cost of PHP246 million and four in Camiguin amounting to PHP53 million.

"The ARB population that we have (in the region) are those who were given CLOAs (Certificates of Land Ownership Award), and those ARBs we reached out to are done through interventions and support services," she said.

Macadindang said DAR is supporting not only land reform programs but also infrastructure projects in partnership with other government agencies, such as farm-to-market roads. (PNA)
