MANILA - Jamesray Mishael Ajido kept his winning form in the Philippine Aquatics, Inc.’s National Age Group Championships, claiming three more gold medals at the Teofilo Yldefonso Swimming Pool inside the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila on Saturday.
The incoming Grade 9 student of La Salle Green Hills, still recovering from a right shoulder injury sustained last month, ruled the boys' 15 Class A 50-meter backstroke event in 28.50 seconds.
Elijah Ebayan of South Warriors (30.24) was second, followed by John Jeremy Villanueva of Pasig City (30.42).
In the 100m freestyle, Ajido submitted the best time of 53.97s to conquer Matt Aaron Nerison of Elizabeth Seton Saints (58.02) and Rodevic Gonzalvo of Green Blasters Swim Club (58.32).
Ajido claimed his third gold in the 50m butterfly event, winning in 25.74s. Ebayan (26.71s) was second and Gonzalvo (27.50s) third.
"I still have five more events and I hope to win them," the 15-year-old Ajido, who has six golds so far, said.
Ajido, a member of the FTW Royals Swim Club headed by coach Sherwin Santiago, will compete in the 50m and 400m freestyle, 100m backstroke, and 200m butterfly and Individual Medley on Sunday.
On Friday, he collected three gold medals and a silver in the tournament supported by the Philippine Olympic Committee and Philippine Sports Commission.
Meanwhile, Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh won the girls’ 17-over Class A 100m breaststroke event in 1:16.62, beating Dee Vianne Catedrilla of Nautilus (1:20.73) and Gerice Oyaman of FTW Royals (1:21.64).
Jasmine's siblings, Behrouz Mohammad and Mikhael Jasper, also performed well in their respective categories.
Mohammad won the boys’ 13 Class A 100m backstroke (1:16.49), 100m butterfly (1:05.41) and 400m Individual Medley, while Mikhael Jasper dominated the boys’ 9 Class B 50m breaststroke (51.45s); 50m (38.60s) and 100m butterfly (1:34.70); and 100m (1:16.94) and 200m (2:45.76) freestyle. (PNA)
