MANILA – The Manila City government on Friday announced road closures this weekend for the inauguration of the Pasig River Esplanade project.

In a traffic advisory, the city government released a traffic rerouting plan for Saturday and Sunday along roads within the vicinity of the Manila Post Office.

“On Saturday, June 22, from 12MN onwards, until June 23, the following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Intramuros - Binondo Bridge Northbound & Southbound; Magallanes Drive (from Plaza Mexico to Jones Bridge) Plaza Lawton (from Jones Bridge to McArthur Bridge)," it said.

The city government said the alternative route for all vehicles going to the Port Area are as follows:

-- Proceed to Padre Burgos Avenue

-- Turn right to Katigbak

-- Turn right to Bonifacio Drive

-- Straight to Anda Circle

-- To point of destination

The initial phase of the Pasig River Esplanade Project was opened last February, which is located behind the Manila Post Office.

The 25-kilometer project will eventually cover five cities in Metro Manila.

It will have jogging paths, bike lanes and commercial areas with retail stores and cafes, to cater to visitors. (PNA)
