MANILA – The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) on Thursday announced the deadline for registration of undocumented newly-constructed motorboats and bancas within the country on June 28.

According to MARINA Advisory No. 2024-24, owners of these undocumented vessels must submit their applications to the nearest MARINA Regional Office with supporting documents.

“To facilitate the registration process, MARINA Regional Offices will be conducting mobile admeasurement and registration activities, ensuring coverage of all newly constructed, undocumented motorboats and bancas before the deadline,” it said.

These supporting documents include a post-construction plan, a notarized builder’s certificate, a notarized affidavit of ownership, and a copy of the owner’s valid ID.

“Failure to comply with these requirements will result in the vessel being ineligible for registration under the new system,” it said.

In addition, it announced the integration of the boat registration process to the MARINA Blockchain-Enabled Automated Certification System (MARINA-BEST) starting July 1.

“This new system mandates comprehensive compliance with all documentation and procedural requirements,” it said.

Using the system, boat owners will be able to register their vessels and submit all documentary requirements online.

“The said initiative underscores the agency's commitment to improving the safety standards of maritime operations in the Philippines,” it said. (PNA)
