CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has warned the public about "text scams" and "bogus" surveys regarding one of its programs in Northern Mindanao.

In an interview on Thursday, Oliver Inodeo, the focal person for DSWD Northern Mindanao (Region 10), stated that the agency has not authorized any other entities nor provided information on beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

"There was an incident in Valencia City, Bukidnon, a beneficiary was contacted claiming to be representing 4Ps, but they reported it to DSWD," he said.

Inodeo noted that monitoring officers have already been alerted to determine how many people have received similar messages.

DSWD-10 urges individuals who have received messages and surveys to report to its 4PS hotline number or contact their local government's social welfare office.

Inodeo said this prevents sharing sensitive information with individuals claiming to be from DSWD or 4Ps without thorough validation. (PNA)
