CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao del Norte – The Army’s 6th Infantry Division (6ID) has opened its first-ever peace museum inside this camp, where the public can gain insights into the cost of attaining peace.

"Our museum has three galleries – Shadows of Conflict, Seeds of Hope, and Blooms of Peace – in addition to the 6ID timeline, a Commitment Wall, and the Garden of Peace. There is also a virtual reality feature that will excite visitors," Maj. Gen. Alex S. Rillera, the 6ID commander, said in a statement on Thursday.

Aptly called "Bulwagan ng Kapayapaan,” the facility was funded by Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliament member Dr. Susana Salvador-Anayatin, also chairperson of the 6ID’s Multi-Sectoral Advisory Board, through her Transitional Development Impact Fund.

On Wednesday afternoon, Presidential Assistant David B. Diciano of the Office for Bangsamoro Transformation, representing Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Secretary Carlito G. Galvez Jr., led the gallery's opening.

Diciano emphasized the museum's importance in “inspiring efforts for peace, promoting reconciliation, and fostering unity for the benefit of future generations.”

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Multi-Purpose Building that houses the museum took place on July 20, 2023, with the assistance of the BARMM Ministry of Public Works.

Rillera said the "Bulwagan" is a state-of-the-art, experiential museum featuring select artifacts that highlight the efforts of 6ID soldiers and the Moro struggles in achieving peace.

He said the museum also symbolizes the growth and the nurturing of peace in the region. (PNA)
