Brazil scores 3-1 win over Netherlands in VNL Manila leg

MANILA – Brazil bounced back from a first-set loss to beat The Netherlands at the start of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Men's Week 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday night.

Darlan Ferreira Souza had 20 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces in leading the Brazilians to victory, 24-26, 25-23, 31-29, 25-20, after 2 hours and 15 minutes.

"It was a good game. It's fundamental for us to win the game today," said Souza, who scored 10 points in the second set.

Middle blocker Lucas Saatkamp contributed 12 points, while Flavio Resende chipped in 11 points, including six blocks.

Opposite spiker Nimir Abdel-Aziz led the Dutch squad with 38 points, including five aces. He had 11 points in the first set and 12 in the third set.

Maarlen Van Ganderen added 15 points while Gijs Jorna, Fabian Plak, and Michael Parkinson scored four points each.

Meanwhile, Japan will face Canada in the other match. (PNA)
