LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) on Tuesday introduced the Community Halo-Bilo Project in different barangays in two areas of Albay province to foster stronger community relationships.

In an interview, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said the project under the Community Immersion Program and part of the 45-Day Police Community Affairs and Development Course, aims to build trust and cooperation with the people, particularly in this city and Daraga town.

"The project will provide a better understanding to the residents of what the PRO5 is doing to protect its people. On the part of the communities, they can tell us what they need and what we can do to help maintain peace in their areas," Calubaquib said.

She said that as part of the project, police officers will visit various barangays to engage directly with residents and provide lectures and dialogues to educate them on crime prevention and how they can contribute to maintaining peace and order.

The selected barangays for the project are Imalnod, Mariawa, and San Francisco in Legazpi City, and Dinoronan and San Vicente in Daraga.

Calubaquib underscored the importance of collaboration between the police and the community in maintaining peace and order.

"It demonstrates our dedication to creating a safer, more cohesive society," she said.

Meanwhile, PRO5's anti-illegal drugs operatives conducted seven successful buy-bust operations from June 17–18 in which they arrested 11 individuals and seized PHP1 million worth of shabu, totaling 155.005 grams.

“The suspects were informed of their rights and will face charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” she said. (PNA)
