CAMP S.K. PENDATUN, Maguindanao del Norte – Agents of the Tawi-Tawi police office and maritime police confiscated 400 sacks of imported rice abandoned in the town of Bongao, the provincial capital, early Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, police director of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said the pile of imported rice bags was left by the road in Barangay Pagasinan at about 5 a.m.

A concerned citizen reported to the Bongao municipal police station the suspected smuggled rice stacked near the village's bay area.

Police inquired from the locals about the ownership of the food supplies but did not receive a positive response.

“All said they have no idea who own the items,” the Bongao MPS said in its report to Tanggawohn.

The seized sacks of rice were documented by the Bongao MPS and turned over to the Bureau of Customs for proper custody and disposition. (PNA)
