MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. praised Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte's hard work and love for the country, as the latter turned 46 on Friday.

"Happy Birthday, Inday Sara! Ipagpatuloy lang natin ito para sa isang matatag na edukasyon sa ilalim ng Bagong Pilipinas (Your hard work and love for the country have strengthened our youth and teachers. Let's continue this for a strong education system under the Bagong Pilipinas)!," he said in a Facebook post.

In a separate Facebook post, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) wished Duterte good health and success in life.

The PCO also thanked the Vice President for serving the Filipino people, especially the youth and the teachers.

We pray for your good health and success in the coming years. We sincerely thank you for serving the country, especially the youth and Filipino teachers)," the PCO said.

Duterte, also a lawyer, is the country’s third female vice president and the youngest to have been elected to the position.

Marcos, meanwhile, will deliver his keynote address for the 21st edition of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Friday night.

He is the first Philippine president to deliver a keynote message for Asia’s premier defense forum, which is going to be participated in by more than 550 delegates from the defense and security establishments of more than 40 nations around the world. (PNA)
