MANILA – Falcons AP Bren booked the second seat in the MPL Philippines Season 13 Grand Finals after taking down RSG Philippines, 3-1, in the lower bracket finals at SM Southmall Events Hall in Las Piñas City on Saturday night.
Falcons AP Bren recovered from a Game 1 defeat and a huge deficit in Game 2 to eliminate RSG PH, although the latter had its moments in Game 3.
RSG PH shocked Falcons AP Bren with a dominant performance in Game 1 to take the series opener. In Game 2, RSG PH outplayed Falcons AP Bren early on and had a 10,000 gold lead in net worth.
However, Marco Requitano, who was named the regular season Most Valuable Player earlier in the night, came alive as Moskov and scored huge kills to spark Falcons AP Bren's comeback to tie the series.
Falcons AP Bren decided to pressure RSG PH late into Game 3, but it almost came at a price as RSG PH's minions came close to stealing the game with only a few hits left before destroying the base.
However, as Vexana, Angelo Arcangel returned just in time and wiped the minions out as Falcons AP Bren eventually recovered to take the game.
Requitana, now playing as Roger, dominated Game 4 and finally sparked Falcons AP Bren's offense to eliminate RSG PH.
Falcons AP Bren will face Liquid Echo in the grand finals on Sunday night.
Liquid Echo booked its place in the championship match after beating Falcons AP Bren in the upper bracket finals on Friday night.
With both teams making the grand finals, Liquid Echo and Falcons AP Bren also booked their places in the Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) Midseason Cup, which will happen at the Esports World Cup.
'Super' Marco headlines MPL PH All-Stars
The win against RSG PH capped a night to remember for Falcons AP Bren.
Requitana was joined by teammates Michael Sayson and Rowgien Unido in the MPL Philippines Season 13 All-Star Team, equivalent to the season's Mythical Five.
Completing the mythical team are Liquid Echo's Alston Pabico and Nathzz Estrologo.
Falcons AP Bren's Francis Glindro was named the Coach of the Season, while David Canon was inducted to the MPL Philippines Hall of Legends.
Fnatic Onic Indonesia's Kairi Rayosdelsol was also named to the Hall of Legends for sparking the globalization of Filipino MLBB players.
Rayosdelsol, who last played domestically for Fnatic Onic Philippines, became the first Filipino player to play as an import elsewhere as he was called up to the franchise's Indonesian counterparts in 2022. (PNA)
