COTABATO CITY – North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco on Friday has attributed the province's gains in the 2020 competitiveness index of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to its hardworking constituents.
North Cotabato is currently ranked 12th in the Most Competitive Provinces from among 76 provinces nationwide based on DTI’s latest competitiveness index in the provincial level for 2020.
“This recognition is for our dear people of North Cotabato,” Catamco, who received the award from DTI-12 in Koronadal City on Thursday, said.
North Cotabato Investment and Promotion Center, headed by Norito Mzo and Margian Warner, accompanied Gov. Catamco in receiving the recognition. Also in attendance to receive other awards were North Cotabato town mayors.
“It is noteworthy that despite the pandemic, these local government units have continued to deliver quality public service,” DTI-12 Director Jude Constantine Jaugan said.
North Cotabato towns that made it to the "Most Competitive Municipalities" are Midsayap, which ranked 14th out of 489 towns in the first and second class category, Kabacan (16th), M’lang (40th), Pikit (45th), Makilala (132nd), Pigcawayan (133rd), Carmen (136th) Magpet (150th), President Roxas (158th), Libungan (189th), Alamada (195th), Arakan (237th), Tulunan (265th), and Banisilan (288th).
In the third and fourth class category, the town of Aleosan was at 48th spot out of 611).
The "Most Improved Municipality" category went to Pikit, which used rank 120th but improved to 45th spot as of last year, while Aleosan climbed from 87th to 48th place.
North Cotabato’s urban center of Kidapawan landed at 26th spot among the 112 most competitive component cities nationwide. (PNA)
