CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – A total of 6,950 establishments in Central Luzon has complied with the interim guidelines on workplace prevention and control of coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

This comprised 92.38 percent of the total 7,523 establishments in the region that have been monitored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) since mid-June this year.

Ma. Zenaida Angara-Campita, regional director of DOLE Central Luzon, said on Thursday the DOLE and DTI have jointly monitored establishments as part of the government’s action against the dreaded disease.

“Establishments are tagged as compliant if they have established the minimum health and safety measures as indicated in the interim guidelines,” she said in a statement.

According to the guidelines, face masks, physical distancing of at least one meter, recording of body temperature, disinfection and sanitation routine practices, and signages on safety measures are required, among others.

Section 9 of the interim guidelines also directed the DTI and DOLE to extend assistance and technical support to all workplaces, employers, and workers in complying with the guidelines.

The DTI and DOLE Interim Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of Covid-19 was issued on Apr. 30, 2020.

On August 14, DOLE and DTI issued Joint Memorandum Circular No. 20-04, series of 2020 or the Supplemental Guidelines on Workplace Prevention and Control of Covid-19. (PNA)
