ZAMBOANGA CITY--The city government is hiring 1,400 students, including out-of-school youths (OSYs), for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) this year.

Socorro Rojas, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) chief, said Friday the beneficiaries should be aged 21 to 30 years old and either enrolled in high school, college, vocational, or OSYs.

The accepted applicants will work for 20 days from July 23 to August 14 and will receive each a daily salary of PHP503.09.

Rojas said that 60 percent of the SPES beneficiary will be paid by the city government while the remaining 40 percent by the DOLE.

She said the SPES beneficiaries will be assigned in the villages to assist the Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERT) as well as in disinfection and sanitation campaign amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“They must follow health protocols and not everyone will report at one time,” she said. (PNA)
