CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan—A simultaneous cleanup drive will be conducted in the 569 villages of this province on Saturday in an effort to avoid the spread of viral diseases.

The activity is a product of the five-day Barangay Summit recently held at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center and attended by chairmen of all the villages in this province.

Governor Daniel R. Fernando is encouraging every Bulakenyo to participate in the cleanup drive and do their part in protecting and saving the environment.

“Ang solusyon sa mga kinakaharap nating pagsubok sa panahong ito ay nasa ating mga kamay. Tayo mismo ang may kapangyarihan na gumawa ng aksyon para luminis ang ating kapaligiran na tayo, ang ating pamilya, at ang ating mga alagang hayop rin naman ang makikinabang (The solution to the challenges confronting us is in our hands. We, ourselves have the power to act in order to make our surrounding clean which will benefit us, our families and our animals),” Fernando said.

Prior to this, Bulacan had been actively participating in different cleanup drives, including the “Battle for Manila Bay” held last January, which is an advocacy of the national government through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources with the aim to rehabilitate Manila Bay.

The move is also in support to the International Coastal Clean-up Day in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 470, s. 2003; DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2017-118 or the “Observance of the Annual International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) Day”; and DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-09 or the “Manila Bay Clean-up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Project.” (PNA)
