BACOLOD CITY -- The Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) is expecting brisk business during Monday’s elections as business establishments cater to customers on a non-working holiday.
MBCCI chief executive officer Frank Carbon said one of the best times to earn from people’s extra money reserved for entertainment and recreation is on Election Day.
In Bacolod City, business hours have been adjusted to allow employees to vote. Some of the shopping malls here opened at noon instead of the regular opening hour of 10 a.m.
“After voting, people are expected to go to business establishments to shop and dine given that it’s a holiday. The heat will also drive them to spend time especially in malls,” Carbon said.
Meanwhile, the trips of fast craft and roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) vessels are also normal.
Carbon, who is the operator of Weesam Express, said there were no trip cancellations for the elections.
Weesam Express and two other fast craft, Ocean Jet and 2Go Travel, have a total of 23 departure trips daily, which can cater to about 5,000 passengers.
Carbon, however, said they expect lesser number of passengers from Bacolod to Iloilo and vice versa during the balloting. (PNA)
