CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) provincial office is hopeful that Monday's mid-term polls will be as peaceful as planned in Nueva Ecija, owing to preparations that various government institutions have undertaken, a ranking poll official said on Saturday.

Lawyer Jonalyn Sabellano, provincial election supervisor, said her office has been meeting with the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), the Philippine Army's 7th Infantry Division (7ID) and Department of Education (DepEd), among others.

The NEPPO reported that agencies under the composite body, the Provincial Joint Security Control Center, convened at the provincial police hostel Thursday, where further election plans were ironed out.

"Maayos tayo ngayon. Mas maayos tayo sa Lunes (We are in order now and we will be better on Monday)," she said.

Sabellano said she personally observed the final testing and sealing of the vote counting machines (VCMs) last May 8.

She said that SD cards in municipalities of Aliaga, Carranglan, Gen. Natividad, Gen. Tinio and the cities of San Jose and Palayan, out of 1,901 SD cards did not function during testing.

These have already been reconfigured at the regional hub in Pampanga, she said.

"'Yun naman ang dahilan kaya may testing and sealing. Para maayos kaagad (That is the reason why there is testing and sealing so that it can be fixed immediately)," Sabellano said.

Nueva Ecija has about 1.5 million registered voters. (PNA)
