50 LGUs in Soccsksargen declared ‘child-friendly’

COTABATO CITY -- The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) on Thursday released the names of 50 cities and municipalities in Region 12 (Soccsksargen) that won the 2018 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance. 

The list included Cotabato City as a recipient of the child-friendly award.

In a statement, Department of Social Work and Development (DSWD) 12 Director Zorahayda Taha identified the town of Polomolok in South Cotabato as having the highest rating of 98 percent, followed by Pikit in North Cotabato with 97 percent, and the towns of Esperanza, Kalamansig and President Roxas, all in Sultan Kudarat province, with 94 percent.

“Others on the list are the towns of Aleosan, M’lang, Tupi, Malungon, Surallah, Maasim, Isulan, Alamada, Antipas, Kabacan, Glan, Pigcawayan, Alabel, Maitum,” Taha said.

She added that Cotabato City, Malapatan, Lebak, Lutayan, Midsayap, Tulunan, Carmen, Tampakan, T’boli, Pres. Quirino, Lake Sebu, Columbio, Matalam, Libungan, Gen. Santos City, Sen. Ninoy Aquino, Tacurong City, Arakan, and Kidapawan City are also on the list. Also included are the town of Magpet, Koronadal City, Kiamba, Palimbang, Sto, Niño,

Tantangan, Makilala, Bagumbayan, Banga, Lambayong, Banisilan, Norala.

The CWC said that recognition for the awards, as chaired by the DSWD and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) as a partner, is based on the results of the mandatory Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), which is conducted annually and covers all cities and municipalities across the country.
